Electronic Correspondence to Inquisitors Subject: Information and Primary Objectives Sent by: H. Maragos Priority: One Requesting: Reply With Information From Reconnaissance
Information
*A team of inquisitors used pulse scanners to search for energy signatures within a 10-block radius of our original entry point. Results pointed to residual energy to the northeast of headquarters in a recreational area of Lincoln Park.
*Interrogation of area citizens tells us that individuals matching descriptions of the fugitives are moving in clusters of 2-4 in the immediate vicinity.
*At least 2 squad members have encountered evidence of genetically identical 'copies' of themselves in the city, suggesting a jump into a parallel dimension. Engaging 'copies' in communication is discouraged.
*Research into historical archives on computer networks and in public archives points to an identical world timeline until the late 19th century, when an unknown event caused histories to split.
*As supplies dwindle, less advanced equipment and possessions may be dismantled and bartered for goods at 'pawn shops'.
Primary Objectives
*Lend primary focus to tracking and capturing fugitives that went off-world.
*If targets cannot be acquired and held for interrogation without threatening the safety of the squad, eliminate the targets.
*The significant population of native demonic creatures makes any widespread initiative to eliminate them too large a task. The squad will capture the fugitives and report back to the Inquisition for reinforcements and reassignment as commanded.
Strategies
*Continue patrols in around-the-clock shifts and on small teams.
*Locate sympathizers (such a vampire Slayer, demon hunters) for intelligence or tactical assistance.
*Begin design and construction of long-range communication device in headquarters. The squad will attempt to send a signal to the home world requesting additional resources, including purging equipment.
*Alterations to uniforms, even for reconnaissance, are discouraged, as the ability to identify squad members amongst potential copies is critical.
